Meeting Minutes

Monday, January 14, 2008

 

Present:     Becky Wyre,  Candy Briney,  Janie Colton, Paul Olmstead, Theresa Green, Diane Rappaport, Vita Polasek, Laura Marshke-Lesher, Erin Salvigione

 

I.                   Meeting was called to order at 12:15pm by Chair Paul Olmstead.  Location of meeting was at Schu’s Grill and Bar, St. Joseph, MI.

 

 

II.                Review of December 10, 2007 minutes. 

 

III.          Reports

                  1.  Berrien County Clean Indoor Air Act Regulation

     a.  St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet and the City of Bridgman

          received a $100.00 fine for continued non-compliance.  A few   

          Bingo Halls are still allowing their patrons to smoke, which will

          continue to be followed up on by the enforcement team.

          In general, most people are supportive of the regulation.

2.  DYTUR Update

      a.  Discussion tabled.  Representative absent.

3.  Smokefree Restaurant Brochure

      a.  Janie Colton has printed 100 brochures with the help of BCISD.

          These brochures will be available at the next BCTRC meeting and a

          decision will be made on who, what, when and where they will be

          distributed.

          

4.  Legislative Updates

       a.  HB 4163. BCTRC members encouraged to write a letter to Senator

            Bishop asking him to send this Bill to the committee.

       

           IV.  Other

                          1.  Grant Update

                                a.  BCBSM:  Tabled. Representative(s) absent.

              b.  Michigan Gateway Community Foundation:  Tabled. 

                   Representative absent.

                          2.  Misc. :  Idea of having bi-monthly BCTRC meetings was proposed.  

                               Will table until more members are present.
